Hello, based on my previous work experience in analytical positions, I decided a few years ago to explore the world of sports betting. Esports, as an emerging opportunity increasingly featured in bookmakers’ offers, was an obvious choice for me, since beating the bookies in football and other popular sports is extremely difficult. Bookmakers, with the vast amount of data and analysis at their disposal, are nearly flawless in setting probabilities, and value bets can mostly only be found in side markets like cards, fouls, and corners. But esports? That’s a different story. Bookmakers are unsure about their predictions, as we can see with most Czech betting sites, which often only offer simple win bets on many matches—nothing else. Tier 2 tournaments and lower leagues are also missing here, with Tipsport being the exception, offering a solid selection. Players change frequently, data is limited, and this gives us the opportunity to punish the bookies for every mistake they make. Long-term, I beat the bookmakers despite their margins.
